In December of 2001, Halifax Headquarters revamped the Highway Patrols from Detachment Units to District Units commanded from Halifax. An Inspector, currently Inspector C. Gibson, from Gibson Woods Kings County, commands the Provincial Highway Patrol. A Sergeant is in charge of each District Highway Patrol. This was done with an eye toward better utilization of the Highway Patrol units, allowing the cars on the road better coverage of the territory that they work in.
In September, 2002, the Neighbourhood Watch groups in Kings County joined together to help fight crime by becoming one big group - the Kings County Neighbourhood Watch. Many thanks to the people in the Grafton group for spearheading this effort.

September 30 will be the last day in Kings Detachment for Inspector Pat McCloskey. He flys out the next day for Yellowknife to take up duties there. BEST OF LUCK!
