KINGS DETACHMENT ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE

The New Minas office of the Kings Detachment, RCMP, is located at 18 Jones Road in New Minas. During normal business hours the office can be reached at 679-5555 and after hours and on week-ends at 1-800-803-RCMP(7267). The New Minas office also serves as the head office for Kings Detachment.

The Kings Detachment head office, SouthWest Nova I-Dent, General Investigation Section, a Serious Crimes Unit, a Canine Unit, a 2 cell jail, and the New Minas area office are all located in the New Minas Office. With all of these units located in one small complex, this is a very busy office, currently staffed by 1 inspector, 3 sergeants, 6 corporals, 30 constables, 4 auxillary constables, a support staff of 5, 1 senior coordinator, and when occupied 1 jail guard. The Annapolis District Highway Patrol also has an office here.
A 50 member Citizen Patrol, 4 member Community Assistance group, a Spurrs and Stetsons group and the Kings Crime Prevention Association also call the New Minas office their home base. The New Minas office of Kings Detachment is one of the busiest RCMP offices in the Province.
 
New Minas is the shopping mecca of the Annapolis Valley. There is little that is not offered in New Minas, the Soccor Capital of the Maritimes. From Canadian Tire, SuperStore, Staples Office Supplies, Empires Theatre complex, County Fair Shopping Mall (with Zellars and Sears), BlockBuster, 2 furniture/appliance retail stores and WalMart to doctors, lawyers, veterinarians, auto sales, churches, MacDonalds (2), Tim Horton's (2), Pizza Delight, KFC, Burger King, just to mention some of the well known name brands. New Minas offers a fine recreational park at Lockhart-Ryan Park also with soccor fields, ball diamonds, tennins courts and walking trails.
 
Everyone in the Valley makes their way to New Minas.
